Water Conservation

WRE started doing water conservation work in 1989, the year of its inception, when the US Environmental Protection Agency retained the firm to evaluate the City of Denver’s water conservation program. In 2002, the US Department of Housing and Urban Development asked WRE to develop guidelines for the retrofitting of apartment buildings to conserve water.

WRE currently helps water utilities assess water conservation potential, develop the means to achieve reductions in water use, and design necessary infrastructure. Recent project experience includes:

  • Market penetration surveys for water fixtures/equipment
  • Water audits to assess conservation potential in office buildings, industrial sites, and a hospital
